Some of us may experience this in more ways than one.
Some may never have the experience.
It's good to know what to do
if it becomes something you face.
All this yoga practice talk revolves
around breathing.
Being aware of breathing, controlling your breathing,
maintaining a smooth steady breath speed,
making no judgment,
repeat, repeat, repeat...
Not so helpful if it hurts to breathe.
In this case- let imagery come to the
forefront of your practice.
Imagery has proven to be
extremely powerful in both
healing and in being.
Honoring your breath has never been
so important.
Never strain or push the breath!
I highly suggest contacting your physician
before adding any breathing exercises to
keep you safe.
The hardest part here may just be
meeting yourself where you are
and
making no judgment.
While breathing in and out as you can,
imagine health and light rather than
focusing on the act of breathing itself.
Sound simple?!
Don't the hardest things seem to have
that way about them?!
Think of imagery this way-
we all worry right?!
Think of times when you've worried yourself
into a stress ball even
experiencing sweats, nausea and a racing heartbeat
when all you've done is think or imagine
something being so.
A friend who's late- maybe she's been in an accident.
A parent who's sick- maybe they're dying.
A test tomorrow- maybe we'll fail.
You experience the physical sensation as if
these things were true.
Spend that energy on positive imagery and
experience the emotion, reality and clarity
you can create with this
seemingly simple switching of gears.
Try this.
As you inhale- do so gently-
practice honoring your body and
letting it tell you how deep you can go.
If you feel pain or discomfort-
lessen the focus on breathing-
let your breath be where it is
and return to focusing on your
imagery.
Imagine light, breath or compassion
flooding every cell in your system on each inhale.
Imagine release, tension or pain escaping
from every cell in your system on each exhale.
As you exhale- do so gently-
practice honoring your body and
letting it tell you how deep you can go.
Honor yourself.
Honor your body.
Honor your breath.
Let your imagination lead you
through this and
trust in the power
of imagery!
Rock Your Practice!
