How to: Use YOUR Breath to Manage Pain

How do you use your breath to manage pain...
I've had to learn this recently & quick.
Thing was- I already knew how
and so do you!

By bringing your awareness to your breath- you begin.
Notice its quality- it will be a reflection of your present place.
Is it rushed, shallow, just in your neck
or flowing smooth long and even?
Then make no judgment-
in fact- acknowledge to yourself every time you find a judgment coming-
acknowledge to yourself that you are right where you need to be right now
and that's okay- you are breathing.
Say it once- say it 50 times-
just make sure
You HEAR it!

You are okay-
you're breathing
and
you're right where you need to be right now.
Then stay with your breath-
consciously begin to smooth and even it.
If you go back to a rushed breath with just a thought-
notice it- make no judgment-
make your acknowledgment.
Repeat Repeat Repeat
That's it.
Stay with it.

Be kind to yourself and let your breath bring you ease.
Try it.
Any questions- please post them-
Your questions help not only you or me but many others who wonder the same thing!
Rock YOUR practice!

Add Yoga To Your Day- Handling Change

There's an awful lot of things we just can't control.

The harder we try to be in control-
the harder things begin to topple.
By letting go and
by learning to trust in not knowing
we place a faith in ourselves
that cumulatively builds an increased ability
to just be
without having to be in control.
"Jump & the net will appear" it's been said...
If we knew everything already-
how boring.

Every time you practice
Take your moment to realize you are here now.
Bring yourself to the moment you're in then.
Become fully present of your body & place on the mat.
Make note that this practice, today,
in this moment, now
is YOURS today.
As every day changes-
Every practice changes.
How does your body feel now?
Is your mind agitated or dull now?
Every day is different-
make every practice different.
Allow each one to have it's moment.
Welcome your day with the same questions-
no yoga mat needed.

By bringing your awareness to your breath in each yoga practice-
by tending to your monkey mind & re-focusing back to your breath
over & over-
you're reminding yourself that every thought
doesn't need to be reacted to
.

Welcome yourself to each practice or each new day.
Right now- right then is right where you need to be.
The phone call from the new employer may never come.
The vet may still think you owe money.
Maybe you've had a rough day or a great day.
EVERY day is different.
That change we CAN count on.
"Jump and the net will appear"...

Things change as we move through life.
Sometimes for good- sometimes not so good
Sometimes it hurts- sometimes it's gleefull
It's life.
Breathe through the tough stuff.
Slow & even your breath to calm yourself when you need it.
Know that the next breath will come.
Have faith in yourself.
Find comfort in not knowing.
Not fear.
"Jump & the net will appear"
